Gideon specializes in all aspects of intellectual property, including the development and day-to-day execution of patent, trademark, and open source strategies, policies, and procedures. He previously served as Senior Director, Head of Intellectual Property at Dropbox, a software engineer at Apple and IBM Research, and a patent attorney in private practice. Gideon holds a PhD in Computer Science and a JD from Santa Clara Law School. |
| David Soucy, Senior Intellectual Property Counsel and Global Lead Patent Counsel, SimpliSafe David Soucy is an experienced attorney specializing in technology and intellectual property law. He has managed patent prosecution, litigation, and client counseling in both startups and established companies. Before joining SimpliSafe, David represented Fortune 100 clients in private practice and later transitioned in-house to oversee IP strategies for a publicly traded technology firm, where his efforts helped secure recognition in the Intellectual Property Owners Top 300 Companies Granted U.S. Patents. In addition to his professional accomplishments, David has contributed to legal scholarship through articles in the Fordham University Intellectual Property, Media & Entertainment Law Journal (2024), the UIC Review of Intellectual Property Law (2023), and the Marquette Intellectual Property Law Review (2022), reflecting his commitment to advancing the field. He holds a J.D. from the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
