Program:

The IUGI Sector is pleased to announce a combined webinar and sector-wide meeting at 2pm (ET), on Thursday, August 3rd. The webinar features a presentation by the NIH’s Peter Soukas, on technology transfer to developing countries, particularly “TT with the Human element: MenAfriVac.” The presentation of this interesting topic is especially notable as it features a previous IUGI Deal of Distinction winner.

MenAfriVac is a low-cost meningitis vaccine designed for use in sub-Saharan Africa. The pioneering vaccine, and the first one for developing countries that does not require constant refrigeration, is based upon a patent license from the NIH and FDA to PATH, and was subsequently sublicensed by PATH to SII under the Meningitis Vaccine Project, a partnership of PATH and the World Health Organization.

The meeting will feature the presentation and Q&A, followed by a sector-wide meeting to announce the start of regularly-scheduled sector-wide meetings, and discuss planning for the upcoming LES Annual Meeting in Chicago this October, and other sector activities. The webinar and sector meeting are open to all, and we welcome everyone interested in becoming an IUGI member to join us for the sector meeting, too.
