Licensing Executives Society (USA and Canada). Inc. (LES) Brings Top Licensing Professionals Together to Share Best Practices and Discuss Evolving Trends in IP Transactions

MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. – March 13, 2015 — Senior licensing executives gathered this week at the annual LES IP100™ Executive Forum at the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix, AZ.

Through this event, LES brings together the most notable IP deal-making executives from around the world to share ideas and insights in a unique format that favors dialogue over delivery.  Attendees create and deliver the content by participating in facilitated roundtable discussions, and by sharing their strategic challenges and innovative solutions.

“The LES IP100TM provides a unique forum for sharing ideas and solutions for effective use of intellectual property rights,” said Philip C. Strassburger, General Counsel, Purdue Pharma L.P. “This event keeps us on the leading edge of IP transaction practice, and allows us to look at the process in new and creative ways.”

This year’s IP100™ featured discussions led by:

  • Nathan Kelley, Deputy General Counsel for Intellectual Property Law and Solicitor, United States Patent and Trademark Office
  • Paul Melin, Vice President and Chief IP Officer, NOKIA
  • Professor Richard A. Epstein, New York University School of Law, and University of Chicago Law School

The IP100TM also featured an update on the LES Standards Initiative, which follows the ANSI protocol to set standards for IP-asset management and transfer, and for associated business conduct. The resulting standards will facilitate more and better IP-oriented deals, enhance reliability of IP-asset valuation, and diminish abuse of IP rights, all of which serve to reduce the time and cost of IP transactions.

“This initiative will serve the entire innovation ecosystem by building consensus around protocols for greater reliability, consistency, and ethics in IP transactions; and, it will improve the quality and quantity of products and services available to the consuming public worldwide,” said Bill Elkington, LES Trustee and Senior Director of Intellectual Property Management with Rockwell Collins, Inc.

Sponsors of the 2015 IP100 Executive Forum include Bracewell & Giuliani, Innography, and Stout Risius Ross (SRR).
