The newly formed Iowa Chapter held its first event on April 24, 2017. The program co-Chairs were James Holcombe and David Lortz, both of Rockwell Collins. Licensing professionals from the Greater Cedar Rapids region met for an engaging afternoon of discussion and networking. “This was a great event not only for the subject matter discussed, but also for the opportunity to meet colleagues and discuss the future of the chapter,” said Chapter Chair, Mihaela Bojin. “I’m optimistic about the coming year and the new member involvement across the state.”

Julia Klaren of Rockwell Collins, Inc. presented information on the history of intellectual property and its important role in our modern economy.

Sean Solberg of Davis Brown Law led a discussion on protecting U.S. trade secret assets in a global economy.

The presenters structured engaging break-out discussions to synthesize ideas and collaborate on problem solving.

The Iowa Chapter thanks its speakers and host, Kirkwood College, for their time and involvement in this successful event. The Chapter also thanks those who attended the event for their participation, their support of the Chapter, and their ideas for the future of the Chapter.
