How to Non-Violently Kill a Design Patent hosted by the Washington, DC ChapterWednesday, February 11, 2026 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm ET 11:00 am - 12:00 pm CT 10:00 am - 11:00 am MT 9:00 am - 10:00 am PT
Program: We’ll delve into the exciting world of design patents – patents that protect the look of things. Not only will we show you a few of the more interesting ones, but most importantly, we will show you one that was invalidated. Design patents seem pretty straightforward, but they are not, and we’ll take you on a quick tour of what they cannot be used to protect. You certainly don’t need to work with design patents to come away with a lot of useful information. Speakers: | Michael Greenberg, Registered Patent Attorney, Greenberg & Lieberman, LLC With a background in biochemistry, economics, and sociology, Mr. Greenberg is a former board member for the Maryland Intellectual Property Legal Resource Center — a legal center for small, start-up businesses. Mr. Greenberg also educates other attorneys as a Continuing Legal Education lecturer for the Montgomery County Bar Association. For future attorneys, Mr. Greenberg has been an annual guest speaker at the American University Law School and at DePaul University Law School. Mr. Greenberg founded his own law firm with Stevan Lieberman in 1996, and he and has been enjoying patent law there for nearly 30 years. |
