Global Life Sciences Royalty Rate & Deal Terms Survey Open

Wednesday, June 6, 2018   (0 Comments)

Your participation makes it valid & reliable

LES is launching its "Global Life Sciences Royalty Rate and Deal Terms Survey" for deals entered into in 2016 through the current date. It makes in-depth data summaries and analyses of transactions in the life sciences and health care sectors from around the world. Members rate this information as one of the most valuable benefits of LES membership.

Beth Gildea, Chair, wants to reassure respondents that all answers are completely confidential. She says, "No member on the royalty survey deal committee team sees any of the individual deals, ever. Everything goes to Vault Consulting, who specialize in confidential surveys. The questions go out from them and all responses are sent back to them. The survey team never sees any individual response, they only see it in the aggregate. We want members to feel very comfortable about that aspect."

Questions included in the survey will cover these important topics:

  • Fixed vs. tiered royalties?
  • Reason for doing the deal?
  • Field of Use—Human, Veterinary, Research?
  • Stage of Development?
  • A profile of responses—Therapeutic/Diagnostic/Platform deals?
  • Exclusivity?
  • Territories included?
  • Inclusion of Co-Promotion/Co-Marketing?
  • Valuation techniques used?

Target dates for the survey include the initial survey sent to members in mid-May, with a few reminder e-mails in June. The final responses are due back the first week in July. Upon completion of the survey process, LES will provide LES members with an aggregate report displaying key metrics resulting from this study. A preview of the results will be presented at the Annual Meeting in October, with a full report in January of 2019.

If you have any questions or concerns about the survey, or the confidentiality of your information, feel free to e-mail Vault at support@vaultconsulting.com. Information on Vault Consulting can be found at http://vaultconsulting.com. You may also contact LES directly by e-mail at membership@les.org.

LES would like to extend a thank you to members of the committee. They include: Beth Gildea, Chair; Jim McCarthy, Assistant Chair; Haskell Adler, Faith Charles, Jennifer Dyer, Gary Gabrielsen, Jianbo Hu, Dana Matzen, Rob McInnes, Sean Sheridan and Arpi Siyahian. Ben Bonifant will act as Analysis Advisor.

The final report will be available to LES members at no charge, however it may be sold to non-members. LES membership dues are supporting 100% of the costs of this project. Past survey results can be found on the LES website, visit http://www.lesusacanada.org/?page=royaltyrates.
