This presentation will provide a discussion of royalty audits – what they are, what they entail, the many benefits of conducting a royalty audit, and how to maintain a good relationship with the licensee throughout the process. Included in the discussion will be red flags and areas for further investigation. The presentation will address an often overlooked issue with respect to selection of an auditor and fee arrangements with the auditor at the start of an engagement and the resulting impact of those decisions should the results of an audit warrant formal dispute resolution.
