As key players in engaging with inventors and impacting innovation, LES members can make a difference in expanding the availability of the best inventions through diversity and inclusion (D&I) efforts. This panel will focus on why every organization with
IP assets should assess where their inventions are coming from. Large corporations have done this and are actively increasing the participation of female and ethnic minority inventors in their IP ecosystems. The societal and economic effects of low
D&I has been historically present in many industries, and the USPTO and special interest groups (Invent Together) are gathering and reporting data so that we can make informed decisions about how to improve D&I efforts along many verticals (STEM education
support , hiring practices, support of under-represented groups). Academia technology transfer is also taking steps to broaden innovation participation. For example, Tech Launch Arizona at the University of Arizona sponsored a "Flourish Here" event
and webinar series "Claim Your Seat." Please join our distinguished group of panelists as they discuss D&I as it applies to both the creation of IP and to the practice of technology licensing, and share practical ideas of how your organization can
better reach all of your inventors.
