The importance of biologics and therapeutics are manifest in the time of Covid. Innovations in these and other sectors are critical not only to the bottom line for the corporations that make them, but for humanity. Also important are adherence to the law, particularly patent law. A recent decision by the Federal Circuit has called into question the written description requirement, i.e., the issue whether the inventor had "possession" of the invention or not. Judge Michel will speak about how the Federal Circuit’s recent decision in Juno has undermined antibody cures and the industry that was inventing them. Further, the court extends the possession test to absurd extremes. The harms include loss of potential cures for any cancer.
