Privacy has become front and center for many businesses. In 2016, the European Union passed the General Data Protection Regulation, or GDPR. The EU law regulates how companies handle personal information from Europe. In July 2018, California passed a similar law called the California Consumer Privacy Act, or CCPA. Like the GDPR, the CCPA regulates how companies handle personal information. Other states and countries are also following suit. To survive this emerging regulatory landscape, companies need to understand what these laws require and how to comply.
