We live in times of convergence. Not only disruption is happening across very diverse industries, but innovation finds applications in fields and verticals that were historically very far from one another. Mobile communication technology is making its way in cars and sensors and medical devices and on the factory floor. Bioengineering is bringing back mobility to amputees and people who suffered spine injuries. Artificial intelligence and machine learning is having an unprecedented impact on virtually every field of knowledge. Banks and financial institutions are transforming themselves into technology companies. Several industries are, and have been for several years now, on a virtuous and very prolific convergence trajectory. How does convergence changes paradigms and best practices when it comes to tech transfer and licensing? Through a multidisciplinary panel of licensing and tech transfer professionals from different sectors such as automotive, banking, lifescience, ICT, we will explore possible similarities between only apparently separate innovation areas, point out peculiarities and differences, learn from each other, and identify areas of potential crosspollination. Furthermore, the panel will discuss how convergence will impact such licensing practices.
