LES Houston Chapter Webinar: Data Availability and Big-Data Analytics in IP: A Look at Recent Activities
The desire by the public for more transparency at the US Patent Office, and other offices worldwide, has made prosecution data and other patent applicant datapoints more available to public scrutiny than ever before. This raw data, combined with advanced analytics software and computer hardware able to manipulate these large datasets, have begun to reveal trends in patent prosecution that (when combined with in-house data and the proper assumption frameworks) may give IP practitioners insights that can help create better IP and save their clients money.
This presentation will provide a brief overview of newly available raw patent data, patent analytics tools, some real examples of patent office data analyzed to produce cost saving decision-points during application prosecution, and where the field of IP analytics is moving into the future.
Learning outcomes:
*What data is available for download at various patent offices
*Ways in which raw prosecution data is being used for new insights by practitioners
*Some third party tools that help facilitate IP data analysis
*What the future of IP data analytics may look like
