What better way to celebrate World IP Day than with a local microbrew in hand! The Chicago Chapter learned the ins and outs of beer brewing at a new brewery in Chicago near Wrigley Field called Dovetail. It’s founders and brewmasters, Hagen Drost and Bill Wesselink, gave the Chicago Chapter an all-access tour of their brewery on April 26th.

The Chapter learned about different beer styles and how the ingredients and yeasts are combined to make the individual styles. They let attendees hold fresh hops and smell the different aromas that give beers different flavors.

The evening began with an hour of networking (and beer sampling), followed by a tour (and more beer sampling), and finished with food from La Concinita an award-winning food truck (and more beer sampling).

Everyone seemed to enjoy the tour and tastings. So many questions were asked that the hosts had to eventually cut us off. The group then adjourned to the bar for food and continued networking and discussion. It was great to see everyone for such an enjoyable event.
